Stylus D78 printers

The Epson Stylus D78 is an economical general use printer for home and small business and is suitable for printing text only documents or full colour photo's. It produces high quality output from four cartridges, taking individual black, cyan, magenta and yellow ink cartridges. It's printing speed is 22 pages per minute for black text on A4 and around 90 seconds for a 10x15cm Photograph.

The maximum paper size it can take is A4 and it features borderless printing, enabling photos to be printed right up to the edge of an A4 sheet. The D78 is available for Windows and Mac users. View all Stylus D78 cartridges.

Epson Stylus DX4000 printer

Another general use printer from Epson, the DX4000 has much the same printing features as the D78: it prints up to A4 size with borderless printing and four colour individual ink cartridges. It also takes the same T071 cartridges as the Stylus D78. The DX4000 is more versatile though as it has the addition of being able to photocopy in colour or black and white as well as being a scanner. The DX4000 has a print speed of 23 pages per minute for black text on A4 or 94 seconds for a 10x15 cm colour photograph.

Epson Stylus DX6000

The all-in-one DX6000 is more power packed and so a bit more pricey then the DX4000. It is a better performer in terms of speed, producing 27 pages per minute of black text on A4 or a fast 28 seconds for a 10x15cm colour photo. Again it takes the same four T071 cartridges, available as a value T071 multipack and has the same photocopier and scanner functions as well as borderless printing up to A4 size.

The DX6000 is geared more towards photo printing, enabling you to put your memory card into a slot on the printer and print straight from that or you can connect to the printer from your camera and print straight out using PictBridge (a standardised technology which allows printing from a memory card in your camera directly to a printer). It also has a nifty LCD preview screen which lets you view and select your photos for printing.

Stylus Photo R240

The R240 is completely geared towards photo printing. It also features straight from your memory card or camera functionality for pc free printing and a picture preview LCD screen. It will print a 10x15cm colour photo in 47 seconds, somewhat slower than the DX6000 but it is cheaper. The R240 takes four individual T055 cartridges (black, cyan, magenta and yellow) which also come as a valuepack featuring all foru cartridges and photo paper. For lab quality photo output and convenient, easy photograph printing, the R240 is a good choice.
