Looking after your inkjet printer

To help prevent your printer becoming dusty and clogged up, it should be cleaned on a regular basis. To clean the outside of your printer, disconnect it from the power supply then just give it a wipe with a duster or damp cloth (making sure not to get the inside of the printer wet or damp). Excess dust, dirt and other particles can be removed from the paper tray and paper feed, using a soft dusting brush or small vacuum cleaner. Do not use a vacuum cleaner on the interior of your printer however as this can cause a short. The printer should be cleaned in this way at least once a month. Note: when turning your printer off, use the off button that is on the printer first instead of just unplugging it as this allows the printer to align it's printheads properly as it carries out it;s shut down routine.

Your printer should be used regularly if possible to help prevent the printheads clogging with dried ink. Clogging with ink can be a common problem and it can seem as if your ink cartridges have run out when they haven't, it's just that the ink is unable to flow. There is more information on this topic here: Cleaning inkjet printheads. Using good quality ink cartridges can also help reduce the problem of blocked printheads but regular printing goes a long way to keeping your printer unblocked.
