To print only the text you need instead of the entire page, simply highlight the desired text by dragging over it with you mouse, then right click and choosing Copy. Next open up wordpad or a similar application, right click on the new document that has opened and choose Paste. This will put the copied text into the document, next right click again and choose Print. If you are using internet explorer and wish to print out part of a web page text, again highlight the desired text with your mouse then drop down the File menu and choose Print. The print dialog box will appear, this box contains a section called Print Range, just choose Selection instead of All then when you click OK to print, only the highlighted section will print out. This should help save on time and ink cartridge use by putting a stop to those occasions where you end up printing out 5 pages just to get the couple of paragraphs that you need!

Choose draft mode, low quality or black ink only in your print settings if you are printing out text only documents that don't need to look superbly presented. This will make the printing time shorter and again cut down on ink cartridge use. Experiment with the quality settings to find a balance between presentation and speed for your different types of document.

Shortcut keys, there are just to many to remember! A few of the common ones are ctrl-c to copy, ctrl-x to cut and ctrl-v to paste. Ctrl-a select all the text in the currently open document and ctrl-s is to save the current document. The shortcut to your print dialog box is ctrl-p. This lets you quickly alter print settings and print out the document, image or web page you currently have open.
