Remanufactured ink cartridges, or recycled ink cartridges, are cartridges that have been used, returned and refilled. Many cartridges used in laser printers, inkjet printers, fax machines, and photocopiers can be re-used and generally sent back through an ink cartridge recycling scheme such as the Oxfam inkjet cartridge recycling scheme. This scheme also recycles toner cartridges and each cartridge that is donated raises money for Oxfam.
Recycling your inkjet cartridges and toner is also sound environmental practice, helping to reduce waste and save energy used in the manufacturing process by making the most out of the cartridges already in use. Most cartridges are able to be re-used, however Epson cartridges are not along with certain others. It is usually easy to check with whoever runs the recycling scheme if your cartridges can be accepted.
Once returned to a cartridge remanufacturer, your inkjet cartridge or toner cartridge is cleaned, disassembled and inspected then any damaged parts are replaced and it is refilled with new ink or toner. Remanufactured cartridges are available for a most printers and are tested for quality to make sure they are up to the same standard of printing as original cartridges. They will not void your printers warranty and also offer the advantage of being cheaper then original ink cartridges which over time can mean significant savings on ink, whether for business or home printing. Here are some other tips to save on printer ink to help keep printing costs lower.
